Sound Like A Pro: E

Concerts, Festivals and Special Events

E Tickets:  Electronic tickets sold online and sent using email.

Event Pre-sale:  Tickets made available to special groups such as fan clubs before tickets go on sale to the general public.

Insurance

Errors & Omissions/Professional Liability:  Professionals are expected to exhibit skills related to their technical or training knowledge and are expected to perform by the standards of conduct in their profession;  they may be held liable if they cause harm to another business or person.

Extra Expense Coverage:  Insurance reimburses a company for a sum of money that it spends over and above normal operating expenses, to avoid a shut down during a restoration period (after an adverse event).

Conventions/Meetings

Early Registration:  An offer, usually with a discounted fee, tied to a specified date.  A call to action mechanism to get people to register with an enticement for doing so.  Benefits to the organization are early cash flow and the ability to get names of people to communicate with and motivate excitement regarding the event.

Emergency Action Plan:  A written, and practiced plan with specific procedures and assignments to respond to  emergency situations including weather, medical, fires or terrorism related such as bomb threats.  A plan should be created for each new event/venue  and practiced with staff and venue personnel prior to the event opening.  A review process to detect weaknesses so the plan can be upgraded should be included.

Nonprofit

Excise Tax:   A tax payable on net investment income payable to the IRS.

Executive Director:  The chief paid executive, hired by and reporting to the Board of Directors;  responsible for day to day operations, implementing Board Policies.
